24 HOUR EMERGENCY SERVICE

Autumn has officially been here for about a week, but up until recently, the weather has felt more like the middle of summer. Temperatures have recently climbed up into the 90’s and more warm weather is in the forecast.

Over the next few months we’ll see temperatures fluctuate here and there, but for the most part, we’re on track for a steady temperature decline until winter. The change in temperature can have an impact on your home and HVAC system, so it’s important to make a smooth transition and ease into the season.

Here are a few ways you can transition into autumn and prepare your HVAC unit for the months ahead.

Open Your Windows and Grab a Fan (or two!)
Opening up your windows is a great way to regulate the indoor temperature of your home. During the fall, you can relieve the burden on your HVAC unit by opening the windows during the day and closing them at night, depending on the conditions outside. A couple fans placed throughout your home can also help create a breezy, relaxing environment for your family.

Use Window Blinds to Control Sunlight
The sunlight that shines through our windows can raise the temperature in our home. If it’s a bit chilly out and you want the extra warmth, close your windows and open your blinds to let the sun in. If it’s warm outside and you’d like to cool down, close your blinds and crack your windows. You’ll reap the benefits of the cool, outdoor air without the warming effects of the sunlight.

Warm or Cool Your Home Naturally with Ceiling Fans
Did you know that the direction your ceiling fan spins can help raise or lower the temperature? It’s true! A ceiling fan spinning counterclockwise will force air downward and cool your home, while a fan spinning clockwise will bring the air upward and warm your home. Your fan should have a small switch near its base to allow you to control which way it spins. Switch from clockwise to counterclockwise depending on the temperature you’d like to achieve. autumn 1655915 960 720

Schedule Preventative Maintenance
The number one way to ensure your HVAC runs smoothly throughout the year is to have it checked by an expert. Preventative maintenance can save you time, money and headaches when the temperatures really start to drop. Plus, you’ll have the peace of mind that your furnace is operating at maximum efficiency all fall and winter long.

Give us a call or schedule a service call today to have one of our expert technicians inspect and diagnose any potential issues that could arise with your unit. It’s much quicker, cheaper and easier than calling us for a repair in the middle of winter!
